Policy & Behaviour

Objectives

Identify and design scenarios and models of changes to policy, behaviour and transnational strategies which will improve information about public transport services and help to optimise international trips for passengers and better complimentarity between services provided by various operators. Most importantly how can these models improve connectivity between road/rail/sea and air? For example, for smart technologies and alternative fuels, identify and design possible strategies and changes to legislation, taxation, fuel duties and other legislative tools and disseminate their impact; develop scenarios and model potential changes to driving techniques and behaviours which will be required to change attitudes in the Atlantic Region to the use of alternative fuels; develop regional guidance documents for regional authorities, to offer guidance on changes to policy and strategy.

Actions

  • Identify and design scenarios and models of changes to policy, behaviour and transnational strategies
  • Identify and design possible strategies and changes to legislation, taxation, fuel duties and other legislative tools and disseminate their impact
  • Develop scenarios and model potential changes to driving techniques and behaviours
  • Develop regional guidance documents for regional authorities

Expected Results

  • A report identifying potential future changes to energy consumption, potential changes to driving technique and potential future changes in human behaviour towards intermodality, and how all of these will impact on interoperability of transport networks in Atlantic Area
  • A report documenting the impact on policy and strategy of the ‘do nothing’ scenario
  • A report documenting how these changes will improve information about public transport services, improve connectivity between road/rail/sea and air, optimiseinternational trips for passengers and better complimentarity between services provided by various operators.
  • A report identifying how the improved information and connectivity will overcome the problems highlighted in the do nothing scenario report.
  • Transnational, national, regional and local guidance documents for authorities, to offer guidance on changes to policy and strategy.
